If you've never been to Spain you might be suprised at how the Spanish celebrate Christmas
A Christmas like no other ...
Celebrate Christmas in Spain
Christmas in Spain is a very religious time of year, second only to the Spanish Easter celebrations. The main celebrations have many similarities to the UK and USA but often the significance of the days are somewhat different.
Rather than the current big run up to Christmas (often starting just after summer!) and heavy commercialisation found in many countries, the beginning of Christmas in Spain doesn’t get under way until the 8th of December. Often the 22nd December is considered by many to be the date when decorations might be put up along with Christmas lights, with the celebrations ending on the 6th of January, which is also the main present giving day.
The main days are described in more detail when clicking on the links to the left, in chronological order starting from the Immaculada on the 8th December until El Día de Reyes (3 Kings Day) on the 6th January.
